We thought we would share with our readers some tips we like to pass along to our brides. Check back often as this list will be continually be updated.
1. No matter where you get dressed, have a flat sheet handy to wrap around your gown so you don’t get any dirt on it when going through doorways, up stairs, or getting in/out of cars.
2. Hire a professional make-up artist for the day of your wedding. I know, I know, “but I put my make-up on everyday, why do I need someone else to do it for my wedding?” Because certain undertones of foundations look better in photographs and the make-up artist knows how to apply your make-up for best coverage and longevity. But ALWAYS do a trial run.
3. If you can, do a pre-bridal session. This session is usually done in-studio about four to six weeks prior to the wedding. Typically, it’s the same day you have your test hair and make-up done, and your gown has had all alterations completed. The bridal session actually serves many purposes. 1. You have a full understanding of how long it will take for you to get ready on the day of your wedding. It’s like a practice run. 2. You become more comfortable moving around in your gown. 3. You will see how everything comes together, hair, make-up, gown, veil, accessories, etc. And the really great thing is now you have time to make any changes or adjustments before the wedding. Every bridal session we have photographed, the bride has changed something for the day of the wedding. Normally, it’s just tweaking the hair or make-up but sometimes, it’s a complete accessory change.
Check back often for updates!

Some of our clients, and friends, may remember Brian Woods who worked for me a few years back. He became like a son to me.
In 2004 his reserve unit was activated and was sent overseas. He has been back and forth many times but everytime he was in St. Louis he would always call, and even shoot a wedding with me.
Brian and Lily came in one day to be “models” for my friend and world-known photographer, David A Williams. But that’s not the importance of this post.
About a month and a half ago he was once again called into action. We just received word that Brian was killed while serving. Brian leave behind a young family and more friends than you can imagine.
Don’t take for granted any time you have with family, or the importance of photography. Photographs are sometimes the only way anyone can be remembered.
What price do you think Lily will put on this image?

For the second year in a row, Signature Studio has been rated by local brides and voted “The Knot Best of Weddings 2008/2009” pick and we are thrilled!
What sets this honor apart from others is that it’s not The Knot that makes the decision to bestow this award to us – it is real brides who were thrilled with the level of service we brought to their wedding day.
To each one of our past, current and future wedding clients, we thank you.

Our grandkids brought their parents in for the Easter weekend so we did a quick portrait session. The kids are getting bigger and our daughter is getting smaller. Yes, I said smaller. In just a year she has lost over 140 pounds. Sounds like a rapid weight loss but it comes out to a safe 2.5 pounds per week.

And just the kids

Paige wasn’t too thrilled, and we didn’t even make her wear a dress. I think the bow in her hair put her over the edge.
Happy Easter!

We knew there was going to be a launch tonight but we didn’t think we would see it because our plane wasn’t landing until 6:30. By the time we got our bags and rental car it was like 7:20 so we drove as fast as we could to the beach so we could get a glimps. Although we were about 90 miles south of the launch site we see a beautiful trail of smoke and fire, then what seemed like only 10 seconds we saw (but not caught in camera) the Solid Rocket Busters (SRB) separate and fall to the ocean. We couldn’t hear it but boy did we see it!!!!
